My first reaction was "he's listened to a lot of Sammy Davis Jr and Nat King Cole!". (Listen to that "hear" two seconds in--doesn't that sound *just* like Nat Cole?)

Anyway, it's Harold Nicholas (yes, of the Nicholas Brothers).
Harold Nicholas et son orchestre, 1959. You can find it on "Jazz in Paris 20: Harold Nicholas, June Richmond, Andy Bey".

Edit: I'm listening to my CD now and noticed they sped the thing up for their routine or class or whatever that is. The original is 10% to 15% slower. Also, just so you don't get too surprised: there's a flute solo in this track...

Thank u so much!! i was swearing it was sammy or nat king as well....so similar...but harold nicholas was left field i would have never pulled it...
