I don't want to start an electroswing argument, I just dig the female vocals that Kid Kasino sampled in "I'm Evil." Can anyone help me ID the original song? "I'm Evil" can be found at:

https://soundcloud.com/kid-kasino/im-evil

Thank you!

What the hell is going on with everyone bringing up "electroswing"? This is the fourth or fifth thread on this abomination. That said: Una Mae Carlisle is fine. And that's who's sampled here.

Googlification of the lyric immediately yields: Una Mae Carlisle, "Oh, I'm Evil"

I dunno why either...Even Jesse did like half a year of episodes with electroswing elements to it...I believe it sucks and it's some sort of weird fad dj's are veering into because the good old 300 or so 30's r 40's jazz tunes we listen are so familiar...its refreshing to hear them used in a different light but the buck stops there. Its for listening to...dancing to it, so far, sucks.......

I agree that electroswing should be listened to with mild amusement as club music dj;s look for more music sources to sample from. They have done the same with classical music. In our swing dancing context it just does not work.

Ella Mae Morse is amazing just listen to " Blitzkrieg Baby " a sure floor filler !

Oh, bro, that song is the worst of the worst of the worst. Delete it and buy all the Una Mae Carlisle you can. The original 'I'm Evil' is great. That sped-up bit of nastiness is terrible.

I'm Evil - Una Mae Carlisle with Charlie Shavers, Buster Bailey, Russell Procope, Billy Kyle, John Kirby, O'Neil Spencer - 5th Jan 1941. Fucking great musicians in that band.

Relatedly, I don't know the Ella Mae Morse version (I have very little EMM), but Una Mae Carlisle has also recorded a good version of 'Blitzkrieg Baby:

Blitzkrieg Baby - Una Mae Carlisle with Shad Collins, Lester Young, Clyde Hart, John Collins, Nick Fenton, Hal West - 3rd Oct 1941

I have no time for electroswing at lindy hop events. It's just shithouse, and this is the only point I need to make.
