More song ID help

#1 Post by SwingOutOfControl » Sun Jul 18, 2004 11:23 pm

Has anybody seen this video? I am having trouble identifying the songs
in the video. It really bugs me that I've heard the songs before, but don't
know the names of them are. So any help to id the song and who played
the songs would be appreciated. There are 12 songs in there, I only sadly know one (Louis armstrong - I'm crazy 'bout my baby)

That's weird. I tried accessing the link just now and was able to do
a "save as" to a file without trouble.

I gave the video a few listens and have been able to identify most of the tracks. I've included rough tempo and times estimates for each track in the video.

I hope this helps:

Couple 1
1. Yacht Club Swing - Fats Waller (?) (175) (start - 1:15)
2. Lindyhopper's Delight - Chick Webb (Strictly Jive) (196) (1:15 - 2:12)

Couple 2
3. The Music Goes 'Round and Around - Ella Fitzgerald (Clap Hands, Here Comes Charlie) (178) (2:12 - 3:20)
4. Cottontail - Duke Ellington (?) (208) (3:20 - 4:22)

Couple 3
5. Who Ya Hunchin' - Chick Webb (Strictly Jive) (180) (4:22 - 5:33)
6. Harlem Air Shaft - Duke Ellington (The Blanton-Webster Band) (214) (5:33 - 6:30)

Couple 4
7. 8, 9 and 10 - Slim & Slam (Complete Columbia Master Takes) (178) (6:30 - 7:43)
8. Basie Boogie - George Gee (Swingin' Away) (200) (7:43 - 8:54)

Couple 5
9. I've Got A Feeling I'm Falling - Louis Armstrong (Satch Plays Fats) (166) (8:54 - 10:05)
10. Diga Diga Doo - Artie Shaw (Self Portrait) (204) (10:05 - 11:11)

Couple 6
11. King Porter Stomp - Benny Goodman (Sing, Sing, Sing) (182) (11:11 - 12:30)
12. Let's Get Together - ? (?) (210) (12:30 - 13:35)

I didn't listen to the video, but "Let's Get Together" around that tempo would most likely be Webb's.

That was my first guess, but after watching the video and comparing it to Webb's version, it didn't sound like it.

Hmm... could also be Mill Blue's version. I'd check but it sounds like this must be a long video.

Thank you so much you guys! Don't you hate that feeling when you
hear a good song and don't know who the singer is or the name of the
song? I can finally sleep well tonight knowing the names of the songs.
