Bill, that's really 4Beat6? Dead ringer for BG/Charlie Christian. Do you have the CD?

My money'd be on the Benny Goodman Sextet (with Lionel Hampton, Dudley Brooks, Charlie Christian, Artie Bernstein, Nick Fatool), 1940.

Fuck. That's pretty bloody good. I'm a complete BG smallgroup nerd - now I need some 4beat6!

I'm a big fan. I haven't bought the CD yet (waiting for my next visit to Europe to do so), but I have a few MP3s that I got from their website a year or two ago. Their version of "South of the Border" always fills the floor and has drawn several compliments from dancers.

I acknowledge it may be hard to tell, but I still believe that the song in Skye and Frida's short clip was recorded by the Benny Goodman Sextet and in particular it's this alternate take of Six Appeal.

I think it's the Bennie Goodman Sextet, too.

The tempos are not even the same (don't need to measure with any tool - can hear quite easily).

Whatever version the dance clip music is, it's definitely not the (slower) 4BEAT6 version.

Not knocking 4BEAT6 though - lovely version in its own right!

(and yeah Skye/Frida may have played with it themselves/sped it up using software/whatever, but I'm not buying it).
It don't matter if your clock is broke - it's the right time somewhere : Slim Gaillard
