Well the second clip is the Johnson Rag - sounds like the Glenn Miller version. I too would love to know what the track from the first clip is.

It is Johnson Rag by Glenn Miller. I'd also like to know the first one

That's "El Salon de Gutbucket" - great title, and a great song! I have it with Charlie Shavers' All American Five including Coleman Hawkins on tenor and Teddy Wilson on piano from 1944; this is a very similar version, but I think it's slightly slower. Still sounds like the Hawk on tenor, or maybe someone copying him.

Thanks Johan :). I do prefer this slower version. Found it on this large box set (track 14).

Incidentally, that album was mentioned in the July episode of Hey Mister Jesse. Sounds interesting.

Great album! I highly recommend it. And it's even found on eMusic. Not sure it is just available in the US or internationally as well.

We play it, but we haven't yet recorded it. I'm sure it'll be on the next C5 cd whenever we get around to the next one. Hopefully, there'll be a JSO one in the meantime.
