#1 Post by gunther » Thu Oct 25, 2007 7:54 am

i assume its the same female singer but can't put my finger on to who it could be or played with. does anyway know the songs & artist/s listed in these two samples?

The first song is 'It's De-Lovely', I don't know the second one, but it's a different song. You can't really hear the vocal, which I think was only at the end of each song, but it could be the same singer. They both sound like modern recordings, probably from the last 20 years.

It's De-Lovely

and

I Can't Believe You're in Love with Me

thanks hayden & zzzzoom.

it's certainly a great 'modern' band , one i'll definitely look into. i was getting sick of restricting myself just to playing only old tracks, time to break some boundaries.

although its great to play slim & slam, i haven't really found another big charlestonish type band to dance or play of. these guys sound great'

thanks once again guys, your awesome' :)

cheers, gunther

If you like the Boilermakers, I'd also recommend the 51st Eight, they are regulars for Vancouver dancers and Alex Pangman from Toronto.

... and Mora's Modern Rhythmists.

To be honest I normally give preference to better recordings over original artists with old recordings. However swinging hard is a prerequisite for both.

Not to mention, by supporting the 51st Eight, you're also supporting (with their paychecks) women doing something besides singing in jazz!

Thanks guys! Yes- those clips were both the Boilermaker Jazz Band with Jennie Luvv singing. We are absolutely honored to have dancers such as Skye and Frida that we count among our friends. They are amazing, and of course we thank them for dancing to our music!!

You can check out all of our recordings, including our new swinging holiday music CD at www.cdbaby.com
