You can get the song really cheap via amazon.com on The Jumpin' Jive, Volume 2.
By the way, this is one of three great collections of Lionel Hampton's swinging 30s material put out by Bluebird. The sound quality is very high. The other two are Hot Mallets, Volume 1 and Tempo and Swing, Volume 3. All three are a steal on amazon.com and will give you quite a collection of Lionel Hampton's swinging small group recordings.

Is it the complete Hampton Victor, then? All his Victor sides under his name up to 1940 or so?JesseMiner wrote:You can get the song really cheap via amazon.com on The Jumpin' Jive, Volume 2.

Bluebird had a 6 or 8 LP box set that was complete.
Will big bands ever come back?
Review refers to Hot Mallets Volume 1 of the 3 Cds. Would be nice to get hold of the whole set as the music and sound are great. While the original six-LP box set correctly reissued all of Lionel Hampton's 1937-41 small-group recordings as a leader, the CD reissue program has been rather erratic, dividing up some of these selections in almost random fashion between three CDs, often splitting up sessions between a pair of discs. The first of these three CDs is the strongest, highlighted by "On the Sunny Side of the Street" (featuring altoist Johnny Hodges), "I'm Confessin'" with trumpeter Jonah Jones, and the four master takes from a date with Coleman Hawkins, Chu Berry, Ben Webster, Benny Carter and a young Dizzy Gillespie. Great music but dumb programming. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
I do also have Jumpin Jive Vol 2 as well and when comparing realised I had looked up the liner notes incorrectly. The personnel listing for "Rock Hill Special" is
Walter Fuller (tp)
Omer Simeon (cl,as)
Budd Johnson, Robert Crowder (ts)
Spencer Odun (p)
Jesse Simpkins (b)
Alvin Burrough (drm)
Lionel Hampton (vibes)
Chicago 11/10/1938 (BS-025867-1/Vic 26114)
I picked up the 6 LP set on ebay. A few other sets there at present.
