"Do Nothing 'Til You Hear From Me" by Mary J Blige

#1 Post by moody628 » Mon Aug 23, 2004 3:28 pm

I'm trying to get ahold of a copy of "Do Nothing 'Til You Hear From Me" by Mary J. Blige. As near as I can tell so far from my search, this is an unreleased track. If anyone can help me get a copy of this for my library, please contact me at moody@moodystudios.com.

This forum was just suggested to me as a good place to find help expanding my music options. I hope I can make useful contributions myself.

Thanks for any help.

That is on Red, Hot and Indigo, from the Red Hot series. It is all Duke Ellington remakes. I am going to get it one of these days.

I picked up Red, Hot and Rhapsody (Gershwin) at Amoeba a few week back. It has some interesting stuff on it (ex: some pretty bizarre Clark Terry).

I have been a fan of Red, Hot, and Blue (Cole Porter) since it came out. I also have a few of the other Red Hot records that are not tributes (Red, Hot and Dance; No Alternative; and Red, Hot and Cool).

Red, Hot and Blue was my first exposure to Cole Porter, so I may be a little biased because of that fact. I also love 80s music and Red Hot and Blue is all about the late 80s bands.

To date, I have never played a Red Hot song at a dance.

What a great version of "Do Nothing...", definitely my favorite track on "Red, Hot and Indigo". I picked up my copy at Amoeba a while back myself. From what I've gathered, this CD is out of print, so your best bet is to check out all of the used CD stores, both brick & morter and online ones. Best of luck!

Actually, they're still selling it through the redhot site:

http://www.redhot.org/shop/

Just make a $14 donation and they'll send it to you. Just picked up a copy for myself.

I looked at the web site. The Red Hot and Indigo looks interesting.

Who are the musicians on the tracks?

Cool. That wasn't there when I was searching for the CD. They used to all just link to Amazon, even the ones not available there.

I'm moving this to the "Other Music" forum as even though "Do Nothing 'Til You Hear From Me" is a great Duke Ellington song, Mary J. Blige's version (and the entire "Red, Hot and Indigo" album for that matter) does not fall into the "Swinging Music" category.

While I'm at it, I'm also renaming this thread to make it more specific.
