Songs that get your adrenaline pumping...

#1 Post by TacomaTony » Thu Aug 19, 2004 11:55 am

I am putting together a compilation of my favorite songs that really get my blood pumping. The kind of stuff you might listen to when getting ready to break a weight lifting record.

Starting with my favorite...
Motley Crue - Kick Start my Heart.
Limp Bizkit- Rollin
Sammy Hagar- I Can't Drive 55
Slave Raider- Bigger, Badder, Bolder
Yello- The Race

What are your favorite get crazy songs?

Great for setting some kind of record, although I don't think weightlifting ever crossed my mind  I do know that I crank it up, drive fast, or get off my feet and move when these are on:

Lovin' Cup Rolling Stones
Darlington County Springsteen
Pump It Up Elvis Costello

Always makes me speed. ;)

There are several Flogging Molly songs.

It's easy to sit there and say you'd like to have more money. And I guess that's what I like about it. It's easy. Just sitting there, rocking back and forth, wanting that money.

Speaking of speeding...my boyfriend got a ticket to Open the Gate--No Doubt, and I'm surprised I haven't either. I also like speeding to:

Bigmouth Strikes Again--The Smiths
Green Hornet--Al Hirt
Fast Easy Love--Bangs
anything by The Donnas...

i can't help but point out that quiet riot's one-hit wonder cover (yes, it's a cover, though i've never heard the slade original) is actually spelled "cum on feel the noize".

off the top of my head, some stuff on my ipod's "run" playlist:

jump (van halen, 1984)
you shook me all night long (ac/dc, back in black)
dude (looks like a lady) (aerosmith, big ones)
just push play (aerosmith)
walk this way (run dmc ft. aerosmith, greatest hits)
eye of the tiger (survivor) (of course!)
mony, mony (billy idol, greatest hits)
johnny b. goode (chuck berry, great twenty-eight)

though i'm probably more likely to listen to michael jackson, alanis, or classical music when i'm in a gym. (and swing totally doesn't work -- i end up dancing.)

does anyone run or work out to swing? i find i start skipping or something.

Music to speed by:

Ministry
Operation Ivy
Bim Skala Bim
Infectious Grooves

There, I'm sure I've just dated myself :(

I like to speed to Yello too as someone else earlier suggested.

Ok.......

First make sure you have friends near by ,you might hurt yourself if you are lifting weights to this. All from the same album:

" Surfing With the Alien "

Satch Boogie

Lords of Karma

Crushing Day

Surfing With The Alien

Please end with :

Always With Me
Always With You

Make sure you use plenty of rosin on your hands so you don't drop anything

Good Luck

Heh, I used to try to play those songs out of guitar songbooks. Satriani was one of those 80s/90s guitar gods who only guitar players knew about, it seemed.

For some reason I enjoy working out with a mix of intense music and mellow, laid back music. It's funny to me to hear Norah Jones while I'm trying to be intense, but I'm weird that way.

Since we're talking Guitar players.

Dream Theater - Erotomania (John Petrucci is amazing).
