Spin Around off the Josie and the Pussycats soundtrack. Our other local DJ likes it.

I haven't seen if this is posted or not, but Blu Cantrell's "Swingin" is pretty fast.
Don't take swing underground!!

Gatorgal, I Learned how to ECS to "Jitterbug" back in the 80s. Thanks for bringing back the memories!

That's what I'm here for!
On a related note, one of our other DJs played Outkast's "Hey Ya" last night at our dance. I've heard it 20 million times already, but never thought about dancing to it. It's fun. I'm peeved that I didn't think of it myself.

This happened to us last Sunday. Many people danced. I enjoyed it a lot because I knew the song very, very well, and could play around with it easily. Perhaps that's why people still enjoy the "overplayed" songs.
Sometimes, I'll request an obscure song that I know very well, such as something by Groove Terminator. It can be fun to lead when the follower is highly skilled but doesn't know the song at all.

Here's a set from this year's Memorial Day "80's" Themed Pool Party
Sorry I don't have access to the BPM right now, but looking through this era made me realize why I was so comfortable at 144 bpm. Apparently, that was the official tempo of the decade.
Prepare yourself for some Breakfast Club flashbacks...
Get the Party Started - Pink (not 80's)
Homosapien - Pete Shelley
Good Thing - Fine Young Cannibals
Blue Monday - New Order
The Politics Of Dancing - Reflex
Relax - Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Shy Boy - Bananarama
Raspberry Beret - Prince
Love_Plus_One - Haircut_100
Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go - Wham!
I wanna be a lifeguard - Blotto
Karma Chameleon - Boy George
Shiny Happy People - R.E.M.
Sexbomb - Max Raabe & Palast Orchester
SOS/Tainted Love - Rihanna
It's Tricky - Run DMC
The Rockafeller Skank - Fatboy Slim
Missionary Man - Eurythmics
You Spin Me Right Round - Dead Or Alive
That's What I Like About You - The Romantics
I Want Candy - Bow Wow Wow
Planet Claire - B-52's
What You Need - INXS
Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
Praise You - Fatboy Slim

Good chunk of 90's music at your 80's party.
