"It's Hotter in Hawaii" - JSP set

#1 Post by Matthew » Wed Mar 02, 2005 4:04 pm

I just got an email about a new JSP set, "It's Hotter in Hawaii." It appears to be a collection of cheesy, swing-era, Hawaiian songs. I wouldn't play most of this stuff at a regular dance, but there are some interesting/weird versions of classic songs, such as "Milenburg Joys," "12th Street Rag," "St. Louis Blues," and "Lady Be Good." You could probably play some of these during a theme night. You can hear clips at CD Universe: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6819235. Unusual stuff.

Felix Mendelssohn's Hawaiian Serenaders

Here's another one from the same site: Dreams of Hawaii by Felix Mendelssohn's Hawaiian Serenaders:

Reminds me of family vacations, with everyone singing, "I wanna go back to my little grass shack in Kealakekua..." :o

There's even a nice Hawaiian version of "Mood Indigo."
