Lavay Smith and Billie Holiday

#1 Post by LindyChef » Mon Nov 22, 2004 8:31 am

So I was in SF last week and managed to catch Lavay Smith for her regular Monday night gig and it was fantastic. She was doing some great stuff from the Billie Holiday songbook with a small jazz combo that was just dead on ... amazing how well her voice worked with those songs. Apparently she's planning on doing a CD with Billie Holiday songs for an early 2005 release FYI.

Sweet! I love Lavay Smith. She was the first CD in my swing library. She came to Schenetady, NY a couple of months ago, tickets were way too rich for my blood, it was really awesome from what I heard.

Actually, yeah ... that was the odd part. I had no idea why she dedicated Good Morning, Heartache to you ... :D
