At Desolation Row's used CD sale (see other thread), I nabbed the six-disc Benny Goodman / The Complete 1937 Madhattan Room Broadcasts... now I'm looking online, and can't find it for less than $91... but even at that price...! Six jam-packed remastered discs with liner notes and full info, and! all these songs that Goodman never recorded commercially:

That Old Feeling
Marie
Me, Myself and I
NAGASAKI
The Lady Is A Tramp
Makin' Whoopee
Everybody Loves My Baby
LIMEHOUSE BLUES
At the Darktown Strutter's Ball
All of Me
Can't Help Lovin' That Man
and
CARAVAN!

haven't done much listening yet... but... it seems like the real article...

That Old Feeling (Martha Tilton singing)
Marie
Me, Myself and I (Martha Tilton singing)
NAGASAKI (quartet)
The Lady Is A Tramp (Martha Tilton singing) & another version
Makin' Whoopee
Everybody Loves My Baby (This is great! Too bad it's "fast" by most dancers' standards and couldn't be played all the time.)
LIMEHOUSE BLUES (Quartet)
At the Darktown Strutter's Ball (I can't believe I found this song so-so until January (heard the Chick/Ella version then). It's always good!)
All of Me
Can't Help Lovin' That Man
and
CARAVAN!

I'm rather liking When Buddha Smiles, too.

cool.
i did a search for this album and i think i saw it come up on MP3.com, as singles that you can buy.
so maybe it's on some of those services (napster? itunes? realaudio?) and you can stock up on choice cuts leaving out the cornier tunes that they didn't really want to play

To be honest, don't waste your money. Just stick with the Columbia 2-disc "On the Air 1937-1938." It's got the best versions of the stuff from that period. Those 6-discs are redundant, and have a lot of useless material.

yeah... it prolly doesn't make sense to pay full price for the whole set, there is a bit of filler, pop tunes, and incomplete tunes... but one might want to get one of the single discs, as it's interesting to hear the whole radio program presentation...
