Lawrence wrote: No, seriously, it actually is a great CD with great sound production despite the bad rep it gets for being so damn overplayed in 1997 and 98.
97 and 98??

try 99, 00, 01, 02... :)

(not that it's necessarily a bad thing)

Kalman
Which version is that?

Bwah! LOLROTF. Wondering when somone would say it. Though I'm surprised the Marvin Gay book didn't make the list; seems like you you hear him at every exchange, okay not the whole book just several songs night after night after night ...

Funny ... when songs get old and tired, you tend not to hear them much any more ... I haven't heard some of those offenders in a while ...

Take the "A" Train - I play both the version off of the Ken Burns Jazz Duke Ellington, and the version off the Duke Ellington Blanton/Webster Band - I think they might be the same recording, although I've never bother to look. To me it's the classic version.

Goody Goody - This is off of Decca's 75th Birthday Celebration for Ella Fitzgerald - a 2 CD set that I've had for many years before starting to dance. Again, since this is a compilation I don't know what the source recording for it is.

maybe it was the red lettering that triggered my reaction! After 2nd thought I withdraw Whistle Stop and Sing Sing Sing; while they are great newbie songs which I still hear a lot, they don't get played at exchanges...

Baby - I still hear several of these songs played regularly in Seattle, although usually at venues you don't frequent that often. However, I have heard you play O.P's Moten Swing occasionally [part of your limited groove selection ;-) ]

Haha. You must be thinking of "Easy Does It". I haven't played "Moten Swing" in a long time. That's funny because I did play "Easy Does It" during my only set at the first late night dance at ULHS.

Eddie Thompson Trio - which I believe you recommended to me.

You had already left when I played it I think. I was just after 4am.

au contraire... it is always a bad thing to ruin a good thing. 8)

There's just too much great music out there to overplay anything. I also know that I get bored of songs more quickl;y when I am DJing regularly because I hear my own stuff more than almost anyone else.
