Test drive WKHR on the internet

#1 Post by Jerry_Jelinek » Tue Aug 10, 2004 5:28 pm

Well WKHR is slowly moving into the 21st century.

We are currently beta testing an internet feed. I'm curious to hear from people all over the world on the internet feed.

So point your web browser to http://WKHR.org

Enjoy,

Jerry

Hopefully it's in the evenings since I can't listen at work.

Good luck and congrats Jerry!

My usual time slot is Friday night (Eastern time) from 9-11pm.

How ever this week I will not be on. Here is a list of my upcoming scheduled shows:

Aug 20 - Centennial Birthday Tribute for Count Basie
Aug 27 - Birthday tribute for Lester Young
Sept 3 - Mark Frohman Hosts the Friday Night Feature
Sept 10 - Spotlight on Charlie Shavers
Sept 17 - Spotlight on the music of Cole Porter - hosted by Mike Young
Sept 24 - Birthday tribute to Ray Charles
Oct 1 - Mark Frohman Hosts the Friday Night Feature

Also some of my favorite DJs are:

Uncle Freddy - Saturday Night 5pm-9pm (Eastern Time)
Jimmy Morgan - Tuesday 8am-10am and Saturday 11am-noon
Barbara Reagh - Saturday noon-1pm and Wed 10-noon

Most everyone has nice selections. Because the adult volunteers bring in most of the material they use, you get a real good idea of personalitites based on the music they play.

Enjoy,

I hope everyone has been trying out the WKHR.org internet feed. We have been getting fabulous response.

Hope those who listened enjoyed the Basie and Lester Young celebrations. I personally received great response on both shows.

This week is another swinging show highlighting the fabulous Charlie Shavers.

Here is my recent announcement of shows: (note all times are eastern time in U.S.A.).

This week we'll be paying tribute to a true unsung hero of swing era
trumpet players - Charlie Shavers. From his work with John Kirby,
Tommy Dorsey, Charlie Barnet, Jazz at the Philharmonic and onto his
own groups, we'll place the spotlight on a true original musician.

Hope you can join us this Friday evening from 9pm-11PM.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Join us each and every week for the Friday Night Feature:

Sept 10 - Spotlight on Charlie Shavers
Sept 17 - Spotlight on the music of Cole Porter - hosted by Mike Young
Sept 24 - Birthday tribute to Ray Charles
Oct 1 - Mark Frohman Hosts the Friday Night Feature
Oct 8 - Tribute to songs with the word Moon in the title
Oct 15 - Spotlight on June Christy
Oct 22 -
Oct 29 - Birthday tribute for Charlie Barnet

The internet feed works great for me - and i'm on a dial-up connection on the other side of the planet.

You may have some more antipodean listeners from now on - I've added a WKHR.org link to our local swing website http://www.perthswing.com/whatson.htm

Hi Trev,

Thanks for listening and most importantly, thanks for enjoying the music.

It is a very wide variety of swing and lighter jazz styles from the 20s thru today.

The stations popularity is growing rapidly on the internet. We have our streaming signal through live365.com. Currently WKHR is 8th and climbing:
