With Austin, Houston, Dallas and Atlanta all within a few hours drive, I wonder how hard it would be to get New Orleans bands gigs at neighboring scenes.

I know a number of bands: Kermit Ruffins, Henry Butler, Bob French all hit the road at one point or another during the year...

I'd love to see these guys get some gigs for dancers elsewhere.

I hired bands from Austin, and LA before. The thing is that, they're at a price that a, we can afford, and I can easily breakeven. Not even to say to make money.

This year, for instance, I'm working with another out of town artist for the annual Ball, which would be very expensive to hire the entire combo beside the fee and flights & accommodations, so I have to hunt down backup bands for them. So, that stretches my budget.

On top of that, we also have relationships w/ a few local bands who really want to come back year after year. And we try to rotate bands too.

It's all about $$$
