I believe it's also on the Tommy Dorsey Album "Yes Indeed!", Though I could be wrong. You sped it up, no?

Wow, ok, cool!

I was all ready to compliment you on your editing skills ;)

(278 by my count, but what's a couple of beats ;) )

Well, that's annoying--Amazon.com put up sound samples and put up the wrong sound samples. The player plays the slow one.

(Never have seen this set drop to my one-track price, but was really excited to finally hear a clear clip. Bummer.)

According to Spotify, this version is also on the following budget collections:
The Dorsey Legend, Vol. 2 (Hallmark)
I Never Knew (One media publishing)
Tommy Dorsey (K-tel)

It would be interesting to know exactly where it is from. There are 14 known recordings of Well Git It by Dorsey from the 40's.

Has anybody seen the original CDs for sale online? It's not a terrific recording in the first place, so I'd love to have the full CD quality.

Jasmine (UK) has issued most of the Langworth transcriptions on a CD called

Tommy Dorsey and His Greatest Band

The LangWorth transcriptions are possibly the most reissued of all Dorsey sides. Maye a dozen times on LP. AMOR and WAGON WHEELS and the too fast WELL, GIT IT are the giveaways.

fwiw - for pop fans - on "Like a Leaf in the Wind", TD does not use the Sentimentalists on the transcription, but uses them on the RCA recording. Same arrangement, same male vocalist. no vocal group. A money thing, I guess.

Ugh. This thread is a huge lie.

The four disc Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Harry James, Glenn Miller set (on Jasmine records) that Falty linked a million years ago does *not* have the fast version of "Well Git It". It has the 190 bpm version you can find everywhere.

Hehe, you should have bought the Jasmine CD that I pointed to...

(I was obviously wrong when I guessed that the version on Faulty's CD was the same though)

And received. Apparently they shipped by rocket. Possibly by teleport.

The single-disc Jasmine release Anton recommended indeed has the fast studio version. Yay! :D

Bruyninckx thinks it was recorded in Hollywood, circa April 1944. It gives personnel as follows:
Candle, Mangano, LaPerche, Pierce (tp), TD, Pederson, Satterwaite, Benson (tb), DeFranco (cl,as), Cooper (as), Klink, Curtis (ts), Branson (bar), Marmarosa (p), Sandole (g), Bloch (b), Krupa (d)

Anton, what was your source for the info you posted earlier? Is that from Lord's? I'd check Rust, but he sadly ends in 1942. :( Bruyninckx claims this CD (JASMCD 2537) is two sessions--the other from circa August 1946, also in Hollywood. There's no mention of Lang-Worth transcriptions. The liner notes are useless, sadly.
