Acapella

Anyone else who like to dj acapella stuff? I've got some acapella swing that is awesome and I would really like to find some more.
My favourites are definitely The Real Group. Their versions of Splanky and Good bait are great.

Haven't given any enough of a listen to decide whether I'd want to dance to it or not. I love Acapella as a musical form, however.
Got some good dancable examples that I could listen to online?

I've got a CD worth at home of stuff that's all pretty danceable. The one I play the most often though is "Tux 66" by VoxP

try The Bobs
dont know if they swing, but they are a great accapella group

The Bobs do a nice cover of "Fever" that I'll play regularly. A lot of their stuff is goofy, but they can swing when they want to. The Bobs are much better to dance to than newer acapella groups like daVinci's Notebook or Schrodinger's Cat.
Of course, you could always go for vocalese. Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross do some very good stuff.
Zoot suit riot

I've actually found one version of Zoot suit riot that I play sometimes. It's an acapella version by Off The Beat.

while I personally don;t enjoy dancing to accapella stuff most of the time I do have one album that you might enjoy. There is a Neil Hefti lead group that was recently rereleased on collectables.... it is called "Pardon my Doo-Wah/Hefti, Hot 'n Hearty" The first half is a bunch of accapella stuff and there is even a version of splanky in there!

there are exceptions, of course. mill bros, some doo-wop, barbershop, etc can all be good.
but, i find, if i waver, i might hear "the new group" (or some other horrible "scooby-doobie" acapella outfit) sing again when i am at a dance.
that's a chance i can not take.

I've got a collection double cd with them but the quality is not very good. Not good enough for me to play at a dance anyway. If you know anywhere I can find better quality Mills Brothers please let me know. And most of their stuff actually don't swing that much (at least the stuff on my cds)

The Mills Brothers did a cd with Count Basie that's pretty good.
Also they have a cd on Jazz Archives (47), Louis Armstrong & the
Mills Brothers that pretty good too. It also has a track with Duke
Ellington and one with Cab Calloway and the Don Redman Orch.
The last few tracks are just them, and it's pretty amazing how
much they sound like instruments.
