I'd be interested in seeing some people's essential lists for Blue's CD. Just like the ones we can get in the Links on Swing music. Although I would say some of the CD's on everyone's swing list (Jimmy Witherspoon comes to mind) would also double in blues.

Billie Poole - Confessin' The Blues
Aretha Franklin - Detroit Blues
Sam Cooke - Portrait of a Legend
Sam Cooke - Greatest Hits
Lou Rawls - Stormy Monday
Jimmy Witherspoon - Jazz Me Blues
Jimmy Witherspoon - Evenin' Blues
Oscar Peterson - Night Train
Aaron Bell - After The Party's Over
Dinah Washington - Sings Bessie Smith
Jay McShann - Jay McShann & The Blues Singers
Sidney Bechet - Ken Burns Jazz (easiest, for "Blackstick")

Yadda yadda yadda...

There are ones I can think of off the top of my head. I generally have one or two pieces on 20 others CDs that have a song on them that rocks.

Mine, from my website:
Jimmy Witherspoon - Jazz Me Blues/Best Of (1998)
Gene Harris - Best of the Concord Years (Concord Records - 1988)
Mose Allison - The Best of Mose Allison (Atlantic Jazz - 1988)
Jeannie and Jimmy Cheatham - Sweet Baby Blues (Concord Jazz - 1985)
Johnny Hodges - Verve Jazz Masters 35 (Verve - 1994)
LaVern Baker - Sings Bessie Smith (Collectables - 2000)

But like Kalman, most of my blues songs are just 1 maybe 2 songs on an CD.
