Keep your eye open for it. I picked it up used for $12 a few months back. How rare can it be that so many of us have it?

Aside from that, I would wait for the inevitable re-issue, you are better off getting 10-14 other CDs than pay $149 for it.

A copy is up for sale on Ebay, ending on Wednesday, Feb 11: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 2595003061. It is widely available in the used market.

I suspect the $145 one is similar to another copy up for auction on Ebay, currently for $90. It is a combined SACD/CD, apparently some sort of super-CD thing for people with far too much money. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 2595026709

I got it for 10$ brand new at A&B Sound here in BC. I think they still have a couple copies in too if people want me to buy and mail them a copy. Let me know.

If I read it right, the one on ebay says it is an advance copy of an upcoming Sony re-release.

I didn't read the listing, just found it. Damn! Now I want to buy it! And I see some anonymous bastard "mark0tz" has the lead bid on it. :-P :-D

Ok, the Blues in Orbit re-issued CD is due in July, new re-mastering, new bonus tracks, and new cover (or it is a different cover than the one the 80s re-issue, for all I know that is the original cover).

I stumbled across these details while looking for rock concert, authorized sound board CDs (the.music.com, they also sell new vinyl re-issues). I think the re-issued vinyl may already be out.

You can also find out more at this site:

"BLUES IN ORBIT
This remarkable 1959 album features the Ellington band minus all the trumpets but Ray Nance, leaving the stellar reed section plenty of room to blow. There are a few warhouse, but most of the material was new Ellington and Strayhorn gems.
The 200-gram audiophile LP, mastered from the original three-track tapes by Bernie Grundman, is issued by Classic Records.

The release of the CD reissue has been postponed to July 2004."
