Flying Home Big Apple Bores Me To Tears

I'd rather do it to Basie's "Honeysuckle Rose" (nice, lively, playful) or something less predictable and repetitive. Don West and I once did it in Austin to Flying Home and had enough time to brew tea - ha ha ha.

Really, I just reject any song that elicits a Pavlovian response among dancers.

Zombie... must... boogie... forward...
Solomon Grundy likes Applejack too!!!

The only thing that bothers me is that when I hear it, I'd like to Lindy and people look at me strangely when I ask them to dance. They'd rather either participate or watch the dancers doing the B.A.

I've seen some suggestions on the board as to what to play for Big Apple, but honestly, if I did that, I think the kids back home would... say it with me... look at me strangely.

That's because you a big freak! (spelinge intenshunil)

Flying Home was built for swingouts. In Houston, I was swinging out some nameless chica while the non-Whiteys version was going on.

The last couple times we played in DC, the people did BA when we played "Crazy Rhythm". And also another time when we played "I Found a New Baby"..

Wow, actually matching a dance to the song being played? Not just running to the floor because Basie keyed the opening to "Jumpin at the Woodside?"

Oh, you crazy DC types...
