I have decided i need a version of this song, in spite of how I cringe when I hear the line "I love oo too".

any ideas?

There is a great version of "Ooh-Shoo-Be-Doo-Bee" on Dizzy Gillespie's The Champ. I highly recommend it.

Just picked up Stacey Kent's new CD The Boy Next Door, and if you like your swing sickly sweet, you will love her version of this song. It was a big hit when I played it for the first time here.

Besides singing on Dizzy's version above, Joe Carroll also has good versions that on two of his albums: Joe Carroll with Ray Bryant and Man with a Happy Sound. They slipped my mind when I posted before.

Yes, I'm a big Joe Carroll fan. :)

Me too. Got all three of those - the Champ on rec from Jesse himself. His voice is infectious and he breathes life into anything he does.

Yes, all three of those versions are good. I think I like the Joe Carroll version best. My girlfriend's 2 1/2 y.o. daughter really likes that song, probably because it has that nonsense phrase repeated a lot. And she likes to sing the part where there's a break and Carroll sings "shoo-be-do-bee" in a really high voice. Maybe I should start a new thread, "swing recommendations from a toddler". She also likes Ella Fitzgerald.
