Going off at a tangent. I've come across some great stuff on Youtube recently in between watching football ... Unfortunately, I don't think this one was recorded separately, but I've fallen in love with it ...

My latest favourite is Clarence Williams' Mister, Will You Serenade. I absolutely adore this track.
I got it from Selected Favourites Vol. 4 courtesy of eMusic, but ironically, the nicest sounding recording I've found was on jazz-on-line.com (go figure)

I'm on a Fats Waller kick right now and "The Wide Open Spaces" (1938) is one of my new favourites.

Speaking of Fats Waller, I just discovered his "What A Pretty Little Miss" on Jazz-On-Line.com; I really dig it - I'd never heard it before. Of course, he was so prolific that there are hundreds of his songs I've yet to hear!

Fats Waller is fantastic... right now I really enjoy "Buckin' the Dice". Lighthearted and fun.

Relistened to Willie Bryant. I don't know why I don't play more of his stuff. 'Long About Midnight for example, is a great little track, and 210bpm is not that scary.

Bryant's music is great - it's the sound quality that lets it down for me.

Yeah it's pretty much only available on those Classics, which are
not known for quality of sound. I was pining on twitter for a Willie Bryant remaster project, but he recorded so little, that it's most likely to be part of a retrospective of one of his musicians (if such a fantasy project were to actually happen).
