Georgia on My Mind - Anita O'Day/Gene Krupa - Let me Off Uptown.

I played it at our vintage night the weekend after Ray Charles passed away -- it's a great swinging version of this song and I've been playing it consistently since then.

I like Claude Hopkins version. I laugh every time I play it.

You'd think that having ants in your pants would make you more, not less, likely to get up and move ar...never mind.

Anyway, I'm digging Biréli Lagrène's version of "Ma Première Guitare" right now, off of Gypsy Project and Friends.

I like the version by Freddy Jenkins' Harlem Seven (a very fun band, by the way), off Sounds of Harlem, Vol. 1. Apparently, this CD won't be available until August. Not sure why that is, because I've had it for a couple months.

"Bubbling Over" - Earl Hines, from 1934-1937. Awesome 3-minute song, chock-full of stuff for dancers to play with. It's 275 BPM, but it's so cool, it's the kind you'd find a way to sneak into a set.

This one is off of LazyP's compilation, Best Of Modern Swing http://shop.heptown.com/product_info.ph ... cts_id=251
Gunhild Carling and her swing band , They all laughed
It reminds me of the "Swing" stuff that Bjork did a while back.

"Avalon" and "Chasin' the Gypsy" by James Carter, on Chasin' the Gypsy.

Incidentally, I saw James Carter play this afternoon in Oakland. Man! He was amazing. He must have pushed his saxes to every limit they had. James Carter is one crazy man.
