Emusic, what happened

I've subscribed to Emusic for about 4 months now. I have not downloaded any music for about 1 month and this week I went at it again. After I downloaded 5 albums I got a message saying that I reached my monthly limit. When did they change their terms? I used to have unlimited downloads for the $10.00 fee. Now I have a limit of 40 songs a month. Can you confirm this?

That would be true, They changed it a couple of months ago. You should have gotten an email with the changes spelled out. That was when a lot of us bailed out of Emusic.

Thanks for the link Tina. I'll cancel my subscription this week. Too bad I did not have a change to go on a downloading binge.

I'm not sure you wouldn't gotten much of anything... so many people attacked their servers when that notice went out (including most people on this board :) ) that it took forever to download, and most times you couldn't download anything.

So you didn't miss much! :)

At 25 cents a song it's still a deal. For all the people who complain that they copy/download illegally because they are broke, this is a quick, cheap way to upgrade your music collection with songs you like. :)

Being one of the ones who jumped ship, have they added any content worth returning for???

I guess that depends on what you've already downloaded. I've never gone on a major pillaging of E-music just because -even though I pay for the luxury- I have so much other music to listen to and catalog. I'd say I've gotten about 150 songs from E-music, but I'm picky. I see it as I haven't had to buy 500+ CDs. :) So whatever I've spent, I saved $4-5,000.

They do update their catalog; I remember when there wasn't any Hank Crawford, Sonny Stitt, Charlie Barnett, Fletcher Henderson, Junior Mance or Gene Harris for instance.

I'd suggest using E-music as a searching device (I don't think you have to be a member to do that, do you?).

Nope. I still use Emusic in that capacity.
