My first set was almost three years ago now, but I do remember it was received with great enthusiasm. People in Utah had heard the same crap over and over again since about 1997, and I couldn't take it anymore. It got to the point where I could tell the person I was dancing with what the next song was because the dj's here just threw in a mic cd and went off to dance. I did a hostile take-over playing Basie, Ellington, David Booker from Denver, Cootie Williams, and tons of other stuff that they had NEVER heard before. They were all used to BBVD and Brian Setzer. After I took over the numbers at the dances increased substantially.

I do all of my djing for clubs for free, so when I am mistreated (like I was by the new president of one of the local swing clubs) I can bail out until they beg me to come back. It happened last semester and now they are having me almost every week because their numbers dropped from over 100 to about 20 or 30.
