I'm totally against choreographing jam circles, but what have you all found gets people out onto the floor?

Right now, I'm liking "Doggin' Around," "Hand Clappin'" and "Traffic Jam."

"Hand Clappin'" and "Traffic Jam" are too played out... not to mention "Hand Clappin'" just plain sucks.

I always think that The Opener offa Great London Concerts will work great, and I've tried it twice in the past 3 or 4 years in seattle, and I got blank stares both times..

I spun a 4am jam at Showdown with the following:

"Doggin' Around" Basie
"Toby" Bennie Moten
"Seventh Avenue Express" Basie
"GT Stomp" Earl Hines
"Jumpin at the Woodside" Basie

I try to stay away from "Jumpin at the Woodside." It's just become the token fast song, like when country clubs would play "Baby Got Back" and have people line dance to it.

"Doggin' Around" is my new favorite.

Well, do you have any suggestions then?

I keep my jam tunes semi-secret and start changing them when I notice others picking up on or using them. :D

Glad you're here to help out, big guy. Seriously, people respect you - that's why we ask.

I'm so looking forward to the Ron v Reuben battle in a couple weeks.

eh, I wouldn't expect much from it. I'd be more curious about a battle between you and him or a battle between Giselle and I... both of which could happen after the semis!

I've asked that question for years.

Most topics I'd be glad to share, but again I've always liked to keep my "jam tunes" hush hush.

I'd love to see what good dancers would be albe to do with Chick Webb's "Harlem Congo".

I really enjoyed Reuben's fast jam he DJ'ed sunday night at HDJF - he lists the songs he played on the first page of this thread. I remember Minn and Corrina just ripping it up during that jam (and for some reason I happened to be on the inside of the circle so I got a close up view!).

I just catalogued Earl Hines Chronogical 1937-39 today; I really dig the last half of the recording with XYZ, GT Stomp, and the piano solo stuff.

[Sorry for outing you Reuben but you had already made this public record ;-) ]
