(inspired by the thread in DJ Skillz)
Hey Russell, we always like to know the obscure danceable stuff... could you do us a favor and hip us to the best (and easiest to find internationally) Australian swing?

Yakov, just saw this thread so I thought I'd better post a reply
Busy researching this topic at present.
Three groups to start with until I get time to post a fuller reply:
Swing City (Sydney based big band with some nice arrangements of standards). Samples available at
http://www.swingcity.com.au/cd.html
Matt Baker Trio (saw them play live at a jazz festival not long ago)
Available from
http://www.chaosmusic.com/shop/artist.a ... tID=180900
eType Jazz (Adelaide based - played some of their stuff at class last night and went down really well. Very groovy version of Fever. Voice of lead singer is great. CDs available from their site. Recommend "More Than You Asked For" which has Fever on it.

From Melbourne
JW Swing Orchestra - My Favorite band to dance to ! these guys are really fab!
The Pearly Shells - These guys can be anything from a trio to a 10 piece big band. they have a great energy
Out for the Count is a 14 piece basie style big band that we dance to every week. They don't have a web site but do have a couple of cd's. Still a bit rough some tracks are good some not so good. they have vocalist issues
Zot, Bob the Builder or myself can always pick up stuff from any of these guys for anyone.
There are more but theres a few for starters anyway
I'm currently exploring Australia's early original swing bands and singers. So far have found a couple I'll post more when I have a bit of time

I was in DC last November (late) and then it snowed.
I don't like the cold.
But yes I will be flying by the US sometime around July 2004.
