Happy October. Just bumping this back up.
I just added some more Halloween tunes to my Spotify Halloween list. I will take a gander through these suggestions and see what else I can add.

Halloween
I just dug out Halloween playlist I had burned to CD many years ago, and I really enjoying listening to it. I might enjoy the halloween-theme more than Christmas music. Most of the songs are ones already mentioned here at some point, but maybe there are a few that aren't. Since these are on a burned disc, I don't have any of the original album information.
Someone said "Mysterious Mose." Great song. I believe this song is the origin of the riff I remember from my childhood as "We are here to scare you-oo-oo-oo"
Also someone mentioned some Louis Armstrong tunes: "Spooks" is a great tune. Also check out "The Skeleton in the Closet." With the creaking doors and scared lyrics, they could be the same song as "Zat You Santa Claus?" Also on my list are "Hellzapoppin" and "The Dummy Song."
My wife hates hearing Ertha Kitt sing "Santa Baby" at Christmas time, and I have to agree that Madonna's version was an improvement. A song she hates even more is Ertha Kitt singing "I want to Be Evil" which is on my Halloween mix. Not great for dances because of the annoyance factor and the long spoken intro. A cute song nonetheless.
Lots of swing music about hell.
Tommy Dorsey "Satan Takes a Holiday" (inst)
Harry James "The Devil Sat Down and Cried"
Fats Waller "There's Going to Be the Devil to Pay"
Ella Fitzgerald "Pack Up Your Sins and Go To the Devil"
Sarah Vaughn "Old Devil Moon" This one is part cha cha, part foxtrot, and not good for dancing, though it's a good listen.
Screamin Jay Hawkins "Little Demon" on the other hand is such a fun track. I'mg glad I found it again. The same goes for "Old Man Mose" by Eddy Duchin which someone had already mentioned.
Some songs about magic:
LaVern Baker "Voodoo Voodoo"
Nina Simone "I Put a Spell on You." Every time I hear this song, i think of that Disney movie with Bette Midler, Hocus Pocus. Part of my childhood memories of Halloween.
Bill Haley & the Comets "Crazy Man Crazy"
Someone mentioned Lambert Hendricks and Ross "Halloween Spooks." Awful song, so annoying and not even the slightest bit danceable. All the howling and vocal trills. I can't make it through. An alternative in vocal jazz that is more listenable is King Pleasure's "Don't Get Scared."
And finally, I concur with the endorsement of Duke Ellington's "The Mooche" and "Jumpin' Punkins" both very danceable tunes. I'm very much in the mindset that just because it's a holiday, it doesn't mean we need to dance to crappy music.
