It was just called Jazz Then and Traditional Jazz Now. Few would every consider Eddie Condon "Big Band swing".

It is much more improvised then any Big band arranged music.

As too it being Lindy Hop music, yea, some is great Lindy Hop music.

i'm glad you revived this thread. i got that set and was listening to it,
but then it got buried under a stack of ellington and i forgot about it.
i'll have to go dig it out.

Yea, I love Eddie Condon!

He was seriously responsible for keeping Jazz alive , when the music evolved through the swing era into the mainstream and became more and more arranged.
He was putting bands together that were interracially mixed years before other people would have dared, and he knew his postition as a Rhythm Player was keeping time. a Modest Legend that will never get his fair share. I read as many musicians Biographies as possible, His story is one of the best, if your interesting in reading. while everyone was searching for that new sound, Like Armstrong , Condon kept it real.....and contributed more then anyone would beleive.

yes, he has a really interesting story, the more i find about him, the more
i like him. and he's pretty funny too, i have those 'live at the rosevelt' cds
where he emcees and he has a pretty sharp tongue.
