November Thursday Guest DJ: Damon Stone (Oakland, CA)

Damon Stone from Oakland, CA is our November guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here’s a little about Damon:

"Damon Stone has been djing local and international events since 1996. Playing out of Oakland, CA his personal tastes run the gambit from Ragtime and Hot Jazz to Soul and Rhythm & Blues. Hot or Cool anything that moves you. As a dj he likes to blur the line between music and dance genres, concentrating more on music that gives dancers a variety of styles to choose from than a tempo or specific dance. His favorite artists Duke Ellington and Count Basie exemplify this philosophy."

Enjoy! :)

January Thursday Guest DJ: David Mortensen (Seattle, WA)

David Mortensen from Seattle, WA is our January guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here’s a little about David:

"I began DJing soon after I started dancing in 2001. Count Basie has been my favorite artist since I first became aware of him in 1990. My tastes span the whole gamut of "swing" music - from vintage to modern - sweet and hot to slow and low. I began collecting LP's in 2003 and prefer to DJ from them whenever it's possible. I'm looking forward to taking Yehoodi Radio's listeners on a tour of my record collection - some rare and some not-so-rare. You may not like everything you hear, but I hope you come to like something you would not have expected to before."

Enjoy! :)

February Thursday Guest DJ: Mary Ann DeVries (Cleveland, OH)

Mary Ann DeVries from Cleveland, OH is our February guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here’s a little about Mary Ann:

"I started dancing Bal and Lindy about 6 years ago primarily because I loved the music! My first dj gig was at the Pink City Balboa Festival in Toulouse, France in 2003 and since then I have dj'ed at several awesome bal events. I really love dj'ing bal events because I love the energy of the music and the passion and fanaticism of bal dancers. My set for Yehoodi Radio will be a little late 20's jazz, mostly classic 30's and 40's swing and then a few contemporary swing groups."

Enjoy! :)

March Thursday Guest DJ: Rob Moreland (Raleigh, NC)

Rob Moreland from Raleigh, NC is our March guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here’s a little about Rob:

"For the past 4 years, I've been DJing in Raleigh every week and at events all over the eastern US. My first priority when I DJ a dance is to make the dancers happy. To that end, I'll play things from the fast and hot, to the slow and groovy, and from stuff you've probably not heard before to the tunes you've heard a thousand times. If I think it'll keep the floor full, I'll probably play it. In this Yehoodi radio set, I'll also be playing music that features instruments from my Cajun/Zydeco dance roots, namely fiddle, accordion and washboard."

Enjoy! :)

April Thursday Guest DJ: Jesse Miner (San Francisco, CA)

I am the April guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here’s a little about what to expect from my set:

"When I am not out DJing dances across the country, I produce Yehoodi Radio to share my love of swinging jazz and blues over the internet airwaves. When we launched our Guest DJ Thursday, I was the first DJ to be featured. Six years and 70 unique guest DJs later, I am now the first to make a repeat guest DJ appearance. Tune in every Thursday to listen to me dissect and discuss an actual set that I DJed recently at the Frim Fram Jam in NYC."

Enjoy! :)

May Thursday Guest DJ: Jay Provost (Boston, MA)

Jay Provost is our May guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here's a little about Jay:

"A Massachusetts native, I have been Djing music for swing dancers since 2003. I am the house DJ/MC at Boston's Swing City, the largest weekly dance in the area. I've worked to bring faster, more exciting music from the original swing era into the modern dance scene. My taste runs from the hot charts of the 1930s to jump blues to dixie. Aside from my weekly gig, I can also be seen as a guest DJ the Boston Tea Party, the Wicked Lindy Weekend, Providence Swings and other exchanges. I have also hosted radio shows for local stations spinning both swing and non-swing music. Catch my set on Thursdays in May."

Enjoy! :)

June Thursday Guest DJ: Russell Turner (Canberra, Australia)

Russell Turner from Canberra, Australia is our June guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here’s a little about Russell:

"I started swing DJing in 2003 in my local Canberra, Australia scene. Since then I have Djed on a regular basis in my local scene and at national events. I also recently turned international and Djed at the Sea, Sun and Swing Dance Camp in the south of France and at the London Lindy Exchange. My goal as a swing DJ is to play interesting and energetic music that has room to play. I believe in variety and DJ across the spectrum from old skool to new skool, from old-time to current, from groove to hot jazz. I also have a passion for Australian jazz and seek to find and play the best Aussie swinging tracks. For this month we go on a tour of my favourite Australian tracks as well as exploring selections from different styles of swinging music."

Enjoy! :)
