January Thursday Guest DJ: Thain Maurer (Denver, Colorado)

Thain Maurer from Denver is our January guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here’s a little about Thain:

"Thain Maurer has fed his love for swing and blues music by djing for swing dancers for the last six years. He has run several local venues during that time, and has had the opportunity to travel to New York City, Oklahoma, Seattle, and Utah to play for events and exchanges. He currently guest djs throughout Colorado, and travels to dance and spin whenever time permits."

January Friday Producer's Picks: Song Association 1

I've been quite busy working on my new podcast Hey Mister Jesse, so here is an oldie but a goodie: Remember those fun Song Association topics that seem to go on and on forever? Well I came up with my own (with plenty of help from Rayned). How do you get from "L.O.V.E." to "Evil Gal Blues" to "Pennies from Heaven"? Listen to "Producer's Picks" every Friday in January on Yehoodi Radio to find out.

Enjoy! :)

Wow, Julius is quick on the draw!

February Thursday Guest DJ: Julius Yang (Los Angeles, CA)

Julius Yang from Los Angeles is our February guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here’s a little about Julius:

"Julius Yang's first exposure to jazz was a Laserlight cassette set of Ella, Glenn, Basie, and Goodman. His first exposure to dancing came courtesy of the Eddie Reed Quintet. His first DJ gig was unspectacular, just like every subsequent gig. He would rather be a jazz musician, except for that lack of talent thing. He takes requests as long as you can defeat him in one on one combat."

Enjoy! :)

The one marked "Cab Calloway & His Orchestra / Cozy Cole - Ratamacue [3:04] - History of Jazz Drumming, Vol. 3" sounds like "A Smooth One" to me. Is "Ratamacue" an alternate title or is the song mismarked?

The same song goes by both titles, for some reason. I have seen it both ways.
