Sorry for the unexpected downtime. Not sure exactly of the cause, but the show should be up and running now! Back to enjoying Alex's show...

Henrik Eriksson is our September guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here's a little about Henrik:

Henrik is a swing DJ from Uppsala, Sweden. Henrik has DJed swing for almost 10 years. He has his own blog: Swing, jazz and blues - dance to the music and is a regular contributor to the podcast "Hey Mr Jesse". He also does a lot of jazz and dance photography.

"In my set I'll provide a smorgasbord of swing, jazz and blues, a tasting menu, just featuring one song per artist so that you get maximum exposure to different artists and styles"

Enjoy! :)

October Thursday Guest DJ: Ben Beccari (Sydney, Australia)

Ben Beccari is our October guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here's a little about Ben:

"Ben first fell in love with Lindy Hop and jazz whilst living in Vancouver, Canada. In this show he returns to North America on a jazz odyssey, traveling the continent from coast to coast in search of hard swinging jazz and blues, a few dances and the rush that only comes from listening to fantastic live music. Every song in the set was acquired during his travels that took in 32 nights of live music, 48 Bands, 6 late night jam sessions, and more than 60 CDs and box sets. You’ll also hear about the cities, the venues and the musicians amongst a swag of swinging music."

Enjoy! :)

February Thursday Guest DJ: Anton Cervin (Malmö, Sweden)

Anton Cervin is our February guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here's a little about Anton and his show:

"Anton has been dancing and DJing in the Lund/Malmö/Copenhagen area since 2002 and has gradually become an obsessed collector of classic swing music from the 1930s and 40s. In his guest DJ set, Anton will exclusively feature small bands from the swing era, loosely defined as everything from trios to octets. (Perhaps one or two nonets crept in there as well.) At least 97 percent of the material is highly danceable, although he has selected more ballads and fast songs than he would for a regular gig for dancers. You can expect some small band favorites (Artie Shaw's Gramercy Five, the Benny Goodman Sextet, etc.) as well as a couple of really rare recordings."

Enjoy! :)

April Thursday Guest DJ: Adam Lee (New York, NY)

Adam Lee is our April guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here's a little about Adam:

"DJ Adam Lee has been swingin’ in one way or another since 1986 when he started playing clarinet and his grandmother, a concert violinist, bought him a clarinet record. Not knowing a thing about clarinets, she just picked one with a clarinetist on the cover. That clarinetist was Benny Goodman and Adam never looked back. Adam started dancing in 1997, started a seventeen piece big band and a swing dance community in Bejing, China in 2001 and currently resides in New York City where he is working on his Master’s in Music Education at NYU. You can find out more about Adam at www.swinganddance.com. (4 hour set)"

Enjoy! :)

May Thursday Guest DJ: Richard Basi (Portland, OR)

Richard Basi is our May guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here's a little about Richard:

"Richard Basi was born and raised in Wolverhampton, England, moved to Portland, OR in 2004 and debuted as a DJ in the summer of 2007. Richard has played tunes for dancers across the USA and England, produced and presented a one-hour TV special, 'The Kingdom of Swing', for Portland Community Media in Oregon, led street-based protests for fairer representation of vintage Jazz at a major annual Jazz Festival and continues to research Portland's rich history of jazz music and Swing dance. Richard once demonstrated his remarkable adaptability as a DJ by stabilizing an amplifier's temperature by blowing on it continually during a hilariously joyful DJ gig. The pride and joy of his small vinyl collection are the 1928 Okeh 'West End Blues' and the 1929 recording of 'Mahogany Hall Stomp'.

DJ Richard Basi brings you the best music from England and Europe, celebrates musicians' birthdays, talks about the history behind some great tracks and musicians, and covers material from the past 100 years during his 4-hour show!"

Enjoy! :)

June Thursday Guest DJ: Sam Carroll (Sydney, Australia)

Sam Carroll is our June guest DJ on Yehoodi Radio. Here's a little about Sam:

"I started dancing in Brisbane, Australia in about 1998, then moved to Melbourne where I started DJing in 2005. Now I live in Sydney where I DJ mostly for lindy hoppers and blues dancers. I've put together a set of songs for Yehoodi which I'd originally intended to be a cleverly themed collection of brilliantly rare and unusual songs. I discovered, unfortunately, that I don't quite have the skills to pull this off, so I've settled for a list of my favourite songs. I hope that you like them. There's quite a bit of talking in between songs. This is because I've also just discovered I quite like the sound of my own voice. FYI most of these talking bits are just about as long as it takes to make a cup of tea. (4+ hour set)"

Enjoy! :)

Golly, it's FUN doing yehoodi radio!

Hey, here's my setlist. Some of these songs don't have full discography details because I just haven't sorted my collection completely. Will I ever? Unlikely. I also tend to just list musicians in band personnel that are relevant to my interests. :D
I crap on and on about the set on my blog if you're interested. The 'theme' was 'songs that I really like'. I tried to set it up like a real, live DJ set. And forgot that it would be interrupted by station ads, etc. Doh.
