Yes, but if you use the words "I submit that" and put a :D in the text to show that you're kidding, you are clear of any wrongdoing.

April Thursday Guest DJ: Olivier Ménicot (Paris, France)

The month of March brings to us another international swingin’ Guest DJ for Yehoodi Radio. Olivier Ménicot from Paris France presents a Thursday set with a mix of French, swing history and other interesting tunes. Here’s a little about Olivier:

"Olivier is one of the main French DJ currently living in Paris. He's been in the Lindy scene for more than 7 years and seriously DJing for 3-4 years. He has been principle DJ at numerous French camps including Toulouse Pink City Swing and Balboa festival, Boogie and Swing in Toulouse, Montpellier Swing Festival and Paris Lindy Exchange. If you're lucky, you'll hear some good French swinging music, but also a wide selection ranging from Lucky Millinder to Jimmy McGriff with some unusual pick as well (hopefully).

The 4 hour show is roughly divided into 3 parts, French theme first, then some songs retracing the history of jazz and swing from Cake Walk to Acid Jazz, then a pick of interesting swinging tunes. 'Bonne écoute à tous'."

Enjoy!

Jesse

Bonne chance, Olivier! Je sais qu'il y a des loups ici, mais n'importe quoi que tu joues, j'y ecouterai. C'est le moins que je peux faire pour le premier qui m'a fait devenir confortable dans la role de DJ. Gros bisous, et j'espere te voir bientot.

Regarding Oliver Menicot

Interesting show so far. I am so happy that Yehoodi offers these shows, gives you a chance to hear other styles and other interesting stuff.

I never knew that "Beyond the Sea" was an old french song called "La Mer"

I have not heard the full show, only the french part and the "unusual" section.

Too early to tell... I've only hit about 15 minutes but so far I've heard a George Bush themed song (I'm guessing) and a damn plantation melody. I'm not a fan of the cake walking genre; regardless of it's critical role in the history of my people, I still find it distasteful.

I'm waiting for the swing pieces to come on, yo. I'm looking for some you-don't-have-this-in-the-States-ha-ha Django pieces.

You beat me. I was waiting to listen to the whole set and put all my comments together. This song ROCKS. I'm finding it, and if a charleston jam ever breaks out during a set of mine here, it's up next!

This is my favorite Charleston piece right now - Brother Bones. The link gives you access to "Sweet Georgia Brown" as well as rockin' version of "My Blue Heaven."

Damn, I listen to his stuff a couple times a week.

EDIT: My Blue Heaven is gone!!!

I think I made it through the whole French section, I think it was Django free.

But, I have not heard the whole show and I left my computer for small stretches, there may be some Django in there somewhere.
