Yehoodi Radio Show

#1 Post by Ron » Thu Dec 19, 2002 12:34 pm

Yeah Sanford and Son is a fun little track I like to segue in or out of funk tunes with. That album is a great listen too, not quite as much in the way of danceable tunes as I'd like but still worth getting.

Once again I'm a week late with the promotions this month. The holidays were so busy! :)

January Thursday Guest DJ: Kristin Buxton

Tune into Yehoodi Radio every Thursday this month to hear the finest swinging tunes selected by Kristin Buxton from Portland, OR. She will be our featured guest DJ throughout January.

"Kristin Buxton is one of the regular DJs in the Portland (OR not ME) area. She started DJing about a year and a half ago, not entirely voluntarily, but has since decided that she really enjoys it. Besides DJing regularly at the Viscount Ballroom, she has made guest appearances in Seattle, Vancouver, and Denver."

January Friday Producer's Picks: Freaky Friday

We're getting freaky again with an encore presentation of "Freaky Friday". Enjoy the tunes.

Is there any chance you can include past set lists as a resource on the Yehoodi Radio webpage? I don't think only DJs would be interested. I think it would be great for anyone new to jazz music/dancing to find some starting points.

I wouldn't play that song, nor a number of other songs on that list, at a dance. I like that song, but I don't want to dance to it. Remember, these are "radio" shows. I had Weezer and Nelly in there for jebus' sake.

February Thursday Guest DJ: Keith Hughes

Tune into Yehoodi Radio every Thursday this month to hear the finest swinging tunes selected by Keith Hughes from NYC, NY. He will be our featured guest DJ throughout February.

"Starting with a 10 CD boxed set of music by Louis Jordan, Keith Hughes has been collecting and playing music for Lindy dancers since 1993. It was partly Steven Mitchell playing Big Joe Turner at one of Keith's first Lindy workshops that really hooked him on the dance. Though primarily DJing in New York City, Keith has also DJed events in the Pacific Northwest, California, Massachusetts, and Texas."

February Friday Producer's Picks: Salute to "Neo-swing"

Are you pre-Gap ad?

This month Yehoodi Radio Producer Jesse Miner tips his fedora to Neo Swing, that crazy music that fueled the 1998 swing dance craze. It's five years later and my how things have changed. Put on your zoot suit, work that skirt and bust out that pretzel! Tune into "Producer's Picks" every Friday in February to hear the swingin/jumpin/rockin hits of 1998!
