Fun track!

Someone posted "the best band you never heard of". Pretty true.

btw - what dance would be done to this shuffle rhythm tune?
Will big bands ever come back?

A great tune! I just recently discovered Jan Savitt.

It works well for Lindy Hop and Balboa.

Great tune indeed! Brings back many fond memories of learning to Lindy Hop in the late 1990s. This track was featured on "Lindy Hop Jamboree Groovin' Vol. 6", one of the many volumes of the well-known-at-the-time Lindy Hop Jamboree "bootleg" collection that we danced to at our practice sessions.

I remember having seen those jamborees when I started dancing Lindy, but unfortunately I never owned one of them.

At the time the Lindy Hop Jamboree CDs were highly sought-after, expensive and full of hard-to-find great classic swinging material. Now the collections are pretty much obsolete due to the easy access to such a wide variety of great music made possible by the internet.

Played a Jan Savitt radio transcription version of this a few times over the 28 years of The Phantom Dancer. Hindsight released an LP of Jan Savitt radio transcriptions in the 80s.
The Phantom Dancer. Swing & dance from live 1920s-50s radio. Tuesdays, 107.3 2SER-FM Sydney & 2ser.com. Presented by Greg Poppleton since 1985!
