Hello guys,

I'm a Lindy Hopper and a newbie DJ.
I wish to play swing music from current bands from all around...
Do you think you can help me a bit with some names of those bands? :)

Every time you're out dancing and hear a band you like, you can get ask if they have CD's and sign up on their mailing list / Facebook page (so you'll hear about new CDs).

People here will be able to name bands that play the big international lindy events, but your local western European groups are probably something you'll have to discover on your own.

And the best thing of all is, then YOU get to have special tracks to share with the rest of the world.

People will ask you, "Who was that?" And you'll be able to answer:
"Oh this? Yeah, this is one of the bands I heard at a bar when I was dancing a few hours from home. I know--we're lucky."

You need to listen to Hey Mr Jesse's podcast; check out which bands are playing the big lindy hop events; and pay attention to the soundtracks of telly shows like Treme. Write down the names of individual musicians, then see what bands they play with. Buy the music you like.

If you have Spotify, I have a playlist you may want to check out:

Don't ever use Spotify to DJ, though. Especially not when it comes to current bands. Buy the music. Most of these people are trying very hard to make a living from it.
