R. Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders

#1 Post by Yakov » Mon Mar 19, 2012 6:22 pm

I'm amazed that we don't have a thread for these cats yet. I googled and found exactly zero discussion of them on swingdjs.com to date.

I think some of the vintage hounds on here would love these guys.

It's a group that was founded by the cartoonist Robert Crumb, who is also a record collector and quasi professional banjo player.

Some of their stuff cannot be purchased unless you are a hardcore record collector, but you can find MP3s from the usual suspects. There are also several legit albums available for download or physical purchase on CD.

The Cheap Suit Serenaders are great. I think they still perform, but only once a year in/near Berkeley. One of them, Tom Marion, lives in Los Angeles and plays with several local acts.
