Swede! Lots of gooood ones! Good work! More text when I am actually awake!

The Swedes are romping on this thread!

I recall that Maida Vail was where a recording studio was.

I think Mesner's was a music shop. Not sure.

Commodre - record shop.

Fat man's - fictional as far as I know.

Stomping at the Renny - Renaissance ballroom. Good one!!

Shufflin' at the Hollywood - I wonder what the Hollywood is?

Did you think of these from memory?

I'm going with these as sure things. Are any of the ones below broadcasts? The Berigan isn't a Victor recording.

Who is Shorty Allen?

Andy Kirk - Apollo Groove
Earl Hines - Grand Terrace Shuffle
Dwight "Gatemouth" Moore - Jumpin' at the Chez Paree
Slam Stewart - Jumpin' at the Deuces
Cootie Williams - Jumpin' at the Zanzibar
Bunny Berigan - Savoy Jump
Shorty Allen - Savoy Riff
Benny Carter - Savoy Stampede
Lionel Hampton - Shufflin' at the Hollywood
Eddie Cole - Stompin' at the Panama
Edgar Hayes - Stomping at the Renny
Willie Lewis - Swinging at the Chez Florence
James P. Johnson - Swingin' at the Lido
Bobby Sherwood - Swingin' at the Semloh

Yes, Bunny is a broadcast. From the Panther Room at Hotel Sherman! :)

Pianist Shorty Allen has a single entry in the Jazz discography - a quintet recording issued on Savoy 525. I have never heard it.

That's why I love these little exercises - I learn so much!

Benny Goodman - Music Hall Rag
Benny Goodman - Riffin' At The Ritz
Benny Goodman - Smoke House Rhythm
Benny Goodman - Pick-A-Rib
Benny Goodman - Cocoanut Grove
Lionel Hampton - Bouncing At The Beacon
Charlie Barnet - Southland Shuffle
Duke Ellington - Scattin' At The Cotton Club
Duke Ellington - Sherman Shuffle

I had to go hunting for these and I am only unconvinced about SMOKE HOUSE RHYTHM and PICK-A-RIB. Was "The Smokehouse" a genuine music (or any other kind of) venue? And the "PICK-A-RIB" was a real restaurant, but I don't know if there was live music there.

I assume that you are compiling a delicious Spotify list of (most of) these songs that you will share with everyone, John?

Nope, but the first post in this thread has been updated each time there were new titles contributed. Help yourself to jam. :)

Hot-cha was a club, but it was an expression prior - as in "hot cha cha cha!" which Jimmy Durante used to utter. So...is the song about the club or is it the expression, "Hot cha!"? I think iy is the expression, but not certain and I cannot recall if the Cab song has a lyric.

I never heard a name mentioned in the song unless it is in the verse if there is one, so I assumed it was fictitious.
