Songs about duckies

#1 Post by Yakov » Mon Jan 16, 2012 10:33 pm

Hey folks. Getting back into the swing dj world after being out for years.

Starting a new dance with my wife (which I didn't have last time I posted here!). We are calling it Ducky Swing. We want a theme song.

I know about Rubber Ducky and Put Down The Ducky. They are both swinging songs. But I want to look beyond Sesame Street.

I wonder if someone can name any other swing songs that talk about ducks?

Thanks!

How can it be anything other than Duke Ellington's Ducky Wucky (1932)!

That's an instrumental! Only hardcore Ellington fans would get the joke, and we are looking to attract an audience not entirely comprised of Ellingtonians :-P

Not sure if these fit the 'bill' but ...

Dance Of The Lame Duck, Casa Loma Orchestra

Huckleberry Duck, Raymond Scott

How about a [very unrelated] verb instead of the noun?

Dinah Washington's "Duck Before You Drown" .

Why? Something regional?

Joe Penner can be your poster boy.
Will big bands ever come back?

Duck Trot is an interesting track. I found it here
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004GKJK7Y/
It is a much boppier Cab than I'm used to hearing. The album "That Old Black Magic" that it appears on doesn't seem to come with any kind of extended information available anywhere on the internet... anyone with some insight into this recording session / era of Cab's development?

Thanks

Here's a very scratchy old blues:
