From another source-

"Here at the Getty (in NYC) we have gorgeous COLOR footage of Glen Gray and the Casa Loma Orchestra playing an outdoor dance date at the NY World's Fair in 1939! You can clearly see Clarence Hutchenrider standing during a clarinet solo. Unfortunately, no sound, but beggars can't be choosers... (BTW this collection is incredibly beautiful color home movies filmed by the Medicus family, probably about 8 hours worth of film at the World's Fair of anything and everything) -

I'm guessing that it is reel 6 based upon the info in the first post.

Reel 2, Part 1 has the "Savoy Show" starting at the 11:47 mark. Some dancing and a band that I don't recognize off the bat.

If you click on each link and scroll to the bottom of the page there is usually a list of the 'segments' contained in the respective footage.

Edit: I just spotted the Glenn Gray footage. Reel 4, Part 3 at about 5:20.

Thanks for the tip on the SAVOY segment.

The GG segment - if it runs about 4 minutes, then it is likely the longest piece of footage we have from back in the day of a band playing for dancers in real life.

Not so much for the dancing/music but for historical interest. The quality of the video is amazing and I've only ever seen a few seconds of worlds fair footage before.

Ya - they shot 8 hours of footage at the NYWF.

People forget that many people had color home movie cameras back then. The 'problem' is that most stuff disappeared into closets and backrooms and basements and attics never to be seen by the outside world. And with few data bases to track the stuff, it just ceases to 'exist'.

For instance - My Dad was constantly shooting color home movies back in the 50s and 60s. Reels and reels of stuff. He even had a small film editor with a little screen for viewing and a razor cutter for making splices. That went missing years ago. Now all the home movies that he shot are 'missing' and no one has a straight answer as to where they are. History gone.
