I'm looking for a version of Anything Goes that's 200+ BPM and only seem to be turning up versions in the 180's...any recommendations?

Thanks!

If you're ok with a 1961 live quartet version with a little latin tinge and with Ella Fitzgerald singing (and talking a lot in the beginning), then the version on Twelve Nights in Hollywood is right there around 200+ bpm.

Let's just say it's one of those I'll know it when I hear it things...but looking for something in an earlier style of jazz, without the Ethel Merman vocals.

The early (1930s) versions are:

Dorsey Brothers [1934], 195 bpm, with vocals

Benny Goodman [1935] - three different radio transcriptions, at least one is available online (165 bpm only, instrumental):

Django Reinhardt (Patrick et Son Orchestre) [1935], 205-225 bpm (depending on the remaster...), instrumental

Also on the Django 1935-1936 Chrono Classics (with crappy sound), etc., etc.

The Django version is the one you want - it rocks! :D
