Recorded in 1984 or 1985?

For reasons that will become apparent to the more astute members of the board soon, I have been looking at recording years more carefully lately. I turns out I don't have very many things recorded in the 80's (well, not things you can swing dance to), and nearly nothing from 1984 and 1985.

A lone Ernestine Anderson track is my 1984 "batch", and 1985 mostly consists of a Mel Torme/George Shearing album.

I realise this is a ridiculous request, but: have any stuff you like that was recorded (not released) in 1984 or 1985? Bonus points if it's available on emusic.

It's not much, but:
Jimmy Noone Jr. with the John R.T. Davies (!) Rhythmic Five recorded for Stomp Off Records in 1985. They did some nice recreations of Noone's old "hits". It's not on eMusic, though :(

How about the soundtrack to the Francis Ford Coppola 1984 movie "The Cotton Club"?

Good suggestions, thanks!

The Cotton Club soundtrack is dirt cheap right now, so I went ahead and ordered it. The other one seems out of print, unfortunately, and I can't find any leads on it.

Found one more in my collection:
The Metropolitan Roof Orchestra recorded their first, eponymous album for Circle in 1984.

Did some more searching. It seems like a lot of jazz albums recorded in 1984/1985 were issued on vinyl and have not been reissued on CD.

Here's one from c. 1984 by Vince Giordano's Nighthawks that has been reissued though:

The original LP had the title "Digital Big Band Hits"!

The Widespread Depression Orchestra might have recorded during that period.

Yup, "Paris Blues" was recorded in 1985. Probably only available on LP.

Ah...nice. Of course, the only stuff on CD I already have and was recorded in '79 and '80.

Looks like I need to finally get a record player. I've been looking for an excuse for years. :o)

Paris Blue was recorded in '85; i might have ripped it from vinyl.
Panama Francis and Maxine Sullivan also recorded in '84

Of course, it depends what you like, but Joe Williams, Frank Sinatra, Ernestine Anderson, Big Joe Turner, Jeanie and Jimmy Cheatham, Ray Brown, Jay McShann, and Spanky Davis all recorded in that period.

Yeah, Frank Sinatra's last real record was recorded in 1984 (the Duet albums of the mid 1990s don't really count), the album is called LA is My Lady.

LA is My Lady has some attempts at pop music of the time on it, specifically the title track. But, for the purposes of this group, it does have a version of Mack The Knife that I play at dances, Lionel Hampton and others play on it. It always go over well.
