The Three Peppers

#1 Post by SpuzBal » Fri Jul 25, 2003 2:30 pm

They sort of remind me of the Nat Cole Trio (at least, instrumentation-wise...considering that they have the same instrumentation).

I picked up their CD because I saw Mora's Modern Rhythmists play one of the Three Peppers' songs - "Smile Up at the Sun" - and really liked it. As I turned out, I personally don't care as much for the Three Peppers version as the MMR version, but it's still kind of a cool song (albeit a bit...surreal).

Haven't had much of a chance to listen to the rest of the CD, but I like what I've heard quite a bit.

The CD is called "1937-1940," by the way, and is on the Chronogical (sic) Classics label.

Anyone else heard this group?
