We have a great new streaming music service in Sweden called Spotify. It's being launched in the UK and other European countries now as well. You can listen to zillions of complete tracks for free, and it is super fast. They have for instance the Complete Jazz Series - new discs are added to Spotify and E-music at the same time. Being super fast, I use it to preview tracks that I can then download from E-music. The have many major-label titles as well.

What is Spotify?

Spotify is a new way to enjoy music. Simply download and install, before you know it you’ll be singing along to the genre, artist or song of your choice. With Spotify you are never far away from the song you want.

There are no restrictions in terms of what you can listen to or when. Forget about the hassle of waiting for files to download and fill up your hard drive before you get round to organising them. Spotify is instant, fun and simple.

You can enjoy my Yehoodi small band swing set (well, 90% of it at least, and with sometimes worse sound quality):

If anybody wants a Spotify invite (for the free service) just send me a private message.

One thing about Spotify that sucks is that their playlists are not stable. Albums can disappear from one day to the next. For instance, I just discovered that the Hep Records Benny Goodman albums (BG Plays Eddie Sauter, BG Plays Fletcher Henderson, etc.) have disappeared. Instead of telling you this, the software just links to you to another recording with the same name (often the wrong track, or the same track but with much worse sound quality). Sometimes albums are randomly replaced by completely different ones. Check out this Andy Kirk/Mary Lou Williams album for example:

(I do not hear Andy Kirk but only some children's songs - do you hear the same thing?)

Yeah - I get the same as you. That's pretty surreal. Shame - it was a nice album too.

Luckily, the album can still be found (with mysteriously altered album cover):
