Boilermaker Jazz Band: "Jump For Joy!"
Posted: Tue Mar 24, 2009 8:08 am
The Boilermaker Jazz Band presents a new CD of hot, swinging music: "Jump for Joy"!
The title refers to the Duke Ellington song and stage play of the same name from 1941, and encapsulates the true feeling in the music. Listeners and dancers alike will revel in the riffs!
Sing and Swing along with familiar melodies by the great composers like Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Rogers and Hart, and of course Duke Ellington. And maybe find a "new" gem you have never heard before.
There are 19 tracks to enjoy here- almost a full 68 minutes of joyful, soulful, swinging and sentimental sounds. You'll find wonderful vocals by chanteuse Jennie Luvv at her smooth and sultry best. Clarinetist Paul Cosentino and Pianist Mark Kotishion also add their unique vocal stylings to the mix. The whole 8 piece band (featuring 2 trombones!) tears through some jazz classics, while a smaller quartet provides a lighter touch. The rhythm is solid throughout- so be ready to cut a rug!
The Boilermaker Jazz Band travels extensively throughout the year bringing our jazzy, snazzy sound to dance halls, festivals and concert venues across the country. We hope that this CD will give you a glimpse of what a real Boilermaker Jazz Band performance sounds like- no overdubbing, tracking, pitch correction or electronic instruments of any kind were used during the recording session. Please jump around responsibly.
