All I have is an Alphonso Trent and a Bunny Berigan version and the Berigan version more of a vocal group version, not quite what I'm looking for...anyone have any good vocal versions of this song?

There's a Mills Brothers vocal version. They use different lyrics than typical, and of course its just vocal harmony with guitar, so not the same energy as a normal lindy hop song would want. The tempo changes in it are fun though.

I'm not sure whether it's what you're looking for, but Kenny Clarke has a nice version from 1938 on this CD -

It's also on this CD -

Unfortunately, neither of these samples has any singing, but there is some on the track!

Yeah, no singing but a great version I didn't know. Thanks Haydn!

The Three Keys have a nice vocal version from 1933 @275 bpm

Swing era, vocal versions of this song seem to be rare...

Sounds like more vocal group versions which I'm not as interested in...

I did find a Josephine Baker version but it's definitely "eh"...

The Kenny Clarke one is not vocal group, it's solo vocal.

Do you own it? Unfortunately I can't hear the vocals when I preview the track on Allmusic...

Yes I own it, just listened again and there are 30 seconds of vocal from 1m 15s to 1m 45s (total song length is 2m 57s). The vocal goes against the tune rather than with it.

Nat King Cole & Frank Sinatra - I've Found a Brand New Baby - The Magic of Nat King Cole (available on Emusic.)

It's a live recording with Frankie on the vocal. The song has a fast instrumental section in the middle, which together with the live recording quality makes it not so great for dancing--maybe as an occasional novelty novelty.

I have a fun McKinney's Cotton Picker's version (1929) which has vocals (from the Document CD I think... don't have CDs near me for details, sorry; just seen that it's on the Bluebird 'The Band Don Redman Built' and the 'Zonky' (Living Era) CDs as well).

I've heard a Loose Marbles version which has vocals. It's sweet.

The Firecracker Jazz Band have a top version with vocals (on 'The Firecracker Jazz Band' CD).

All of these are fast and hot. Which can't be a bad thing. :D

The lyrics on this song seem to be just one verse, along these lines:

Many of the recorded versions seem to have either no vocals or very brief vocals.

More of a ballad than a dance number, but Ethel Waters recorded a vocal version with a small group (available online).

here's a sweet video with Eva Taylor singing vocals to New Baby. not what you're looking for probably, but still worth listening to.

Neat!

I really like her vocals on Cakewalkin' Babies in the related videos.
