Viper Mad

#1 Post by AlekseyKosygin » Mon Jun 23, 2008 6:59 pm

I'm looking for a high quality copy of Noble Sissle/Sidney Bechet's "Viper Mad"...the version I have is off of Reefer Songs on Mojo and it's of fairly poor sound quality...anyone out there think they have a high quality version?, if so what CD is it on? Thanks.

i have it on dope & glory and on the sidney bechet portrait box.

both are good enough quality to play at a dance, i think. i wouldn't call either of them poor quality. both sound like they've had noise reduction applied to them, but i can't decide which is "better". i don't have the cd you mentioned to compare.

I have it off the 'Ken Burns Jazz Series: Sidney Bechet' CD.

Not scratchy to my ears. Try that one?

The cleanest copy of that song is on the Sweet and Lowdown soundtrack.
You can get it DRM-free 256kbps MP3 here.
2nd best copy of that song is on Robert Parker's Sidney Bechet album (out of print.)

Just buy the whole album instead, it's fantastic.
