Gene Deitch did many great Jazz illustrations in the 1940s before he became a film animator. He's still alive and well at 84 and still does the occasional Jazz
rendering. His very funny series of cartoons in the old RECORD CHANGER magazine which featured a hyper-die-hard record collector called THE CAT are classics.

In this interview he discusses the world of Jazz record collecting back in the day, the differences of LPs v CDs and other topics.

If you like illustration, you should check out his work.

Also check out Jim Flora, too. These guys were way ahead of their times.
Will big bands ever come back?
