Why wait? You can be a member of the YOUNG SWING DJs HALL OF FAME.

No silly, self serving restrictions.

Here ya go! I just nominated you. For 50 bucks I cam make sure you get in.

Sweet trophy, but this is clearly for the Westies.

I see a couple of names on there that used to DJ the "Lindy" nights early on at the old Memories, and whom the "Lindy" dancers used to bitch and moan about constantly. Thankfully the owners listened and started hiring DJs who knew their audience.

Clearly, different priorities for different DJ communities.

I also think it's a generational thing to, as can be demonstrated by their awesome website... though I suppose that does tie right back into the different communities tip.

Actually what really shocked me was what they spend on the bling. I'd be happy with simple acknowledgment and thrilled with a $50 gift certificate from cdbaby or amazon or some place where I can buy more music. I find the $700 gold plated mic a little extravagant. Clearly a different culture.

I am a member of the group. Most of the time, I am the token lindy oriented DJ. Different Lindy DJs have dropped in and out at different points in time.

Jesse Miner was nominated for the Wetzel at least once (not sure who nominated him). I did not see him on the website, but I remember seeing posts with his name included.

The users love the YahooGroup format, there was a proposal to move to forums a few years back and there was not much interest.

Being a member of the group has given me a good idea about what songs are popular in the Westie world. It has been a tremendous help when I DJ the monthly West Coast room at our main lindy hop venue in Austin.

The way AllSwingDJ works, is that you post a list of ten songs a month, everybody posts lists, if you fail to for a month or two, you are deemed a leech and removed from the membership (that is the wording they use). By the letter, it is supposed to be your top ten, but that is not practical for all the members, so they just post ten songs they like.
